Dose GSM mobile phones work in Japan now?

Question by saif_jp75: Dose GSM mobile phones work in Japan now?
I lived in Japan before, in that time GSM mobile phones can not operated within Japanese cellular phones networks.
Now, at most of Japanese International Airports, they offer a special mobile phone with GSM sim card adapter which allow to use GSM lines within Japanese cellular phones networks, but it is little expensive to rent it, almost 700 YEN per day, and must to pay in advance for the renting period plus insurance amount reserved by credit card.
Is there any GSM mobile phone can work in Japan now; without needing to rent GSM adapter from the Airport?

Answer by Toraji
Any tri-band GSM phone should be useable in Japan. I would check with your provider to double check this. And also make sure the costs. But I know Japan has a few phones that are GSM, nokia and a few motorolla’s I believe.

Ulysse Nardin Chairman, 'World's Most Expensive Mobile Phone,' Is Totally
Up till now, a man could do this with a certain set of flashy accessories — an Italian sports car, a designer tuxedo, a gleaming set of bejeweled tooth covers — but not with his cellphone. An iPhone is $ 200 on contract. The Galaxy Nexus is $ 300.

Q&A: Is an unlocked Samsung Juke phone compatible with the Boost mobile network?

Question by : Is an unlocked Samsung Juke phone compatible with the Boost mobile network?
Is Verizon’s Samsung Juke cellphone usable under the Boost mobile carrier if its unlocked?

Best answer:

Answer by Ben
It is not.

You will not be able to make your Samsung Juke … or any other unlocked phone from any other network on Boost Mobile. It does not matter if your phone is GSM, CDMA or any other type of phone. It also will not matter whether your phone was from the Sprint, AT&T, Verizon or T-Mobile network.

The only phones that will work on Virgin Mobile are phones specifically made for, programmed and sold on (and for) the site / network … such as their Blackberry Curve 8530. They do this intentionally, and it is the only way for a low-cost, prepaid network to survive.

If you could use any phone (or any other network’s phone), thousands of people (or most people?) wouldn’t buy Boost Mobile phones at all … they’d buy inexpensive used or unlocked phones elsewhere, then go sign up for Boost, Virgin or some other prepaid network. So this also applies to NET10, Tracfone, etc.

This is also the reason why phones are often “free” or so inexpensive on one of the major networks – because they are relying on a minimum Two-Year Contract … which a prepaid company can not get from you.

You CAN unlock your Samsung Juke or get it unlocked and use it on a competing major provider, one other than AT&T or T-mobile.

I have an unlocked HTC G1 phone and i want to hook it up with SIMPLE MOBILE. But before i do i want to know if the web works with this unlocked phone? or if there are problems with the mms or sms? and if so anyone have the codes to unlock them??

Best answer:

Answer by Tricia
Hi Joeline, I believe it will work as long as you have the required settings in your HTC phone. Call your operator up and request for the settings to be sent to you, then saved it and reboot your phone. If they do not have any automatic settings for you, you can also request for a manual configuration.
