What s the difference between an unlocked mobile phone and a factory unlocked mobile phone?

Question by Daniel B: What s the difference between an unlocked mobile phone and a factory unlocked mobile phone?
What s the difference between an unlocked mobile phone and a factory unlocked mobile phone? And what is a debranded mobile phone?

Answer by Caoedhen
Unlocked means not tied one network, like AT&T or TMobile. You can obtain an unlock code for a GSM phone in various ways, TMobile will actually provide that code is you have had the phone long enough.

Factory unlocked is just that, the phone was never locked to one carrier when it was sold.

Debranded is removing all special screens, menus, and software that ties a phone to a particular company. This may also mean not having a phone company name on the exterior of the phone as well.

You may lose some specific network functionality with such a phone. If all you do is make calls and the occasional text, it won’t matter. MMS, Internet, wifi, that sort of of thing, may not work properly.

Question by OCSFashionista: Unlocked Iphone?
I want an Iphone but I have T-mobile, family plan, If I buy an unlocked Iphone off of ebay, would it work with my plan and with tmobile, or would I have to get a plan with internet and all that stuff.

Best answer:

Answer by Jon H
it would work, you would just be charged every time you go on the internet (unless you have a data plan).

and don’t trust ebay, just get an iphone from apple and unlock it yourself. all you’ve gotta do is search “unlock iphone” on google and you can find a program that’ll do everything for you.

also can anyone tell me what the phones like, it looks and sounds amazing.

i live around edinburgh area and i get a perfect signal with my current phone so should it work?

Best answer:

Answer by SNikki
I can’t answer the first 2 questions because i never had that phone but for the last question i can answer. Some phones get better signal than others even if they are the same company. One phone may work great and have good signal in your area but another phone may have horrible signal in the same place. It just depends on what phone. Even if the people who work at those companies tell you that the phone will definitely work in your area it doesn’t mean it will. Usually they are just guessing on how the phone worked for other people.
